The Principle Trust
Since the launch of the Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival in 2016 we have been committed to raising funds to support children locally & across our region. In the early years of the festival we supported local Primary Schools via their Parent Teacher Associations. The Principle Trust Childrens Charity had attended the festival as an exhibitor before becoming our formal charity partner in 2023.
Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire The Principle Trust Children’s Charity’s aim is to help improve the quality of life of children from across Yorkshire who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, and disabled through the provision of free holidays.
The Principle Trust strives to make a positive and meaningful difference to children who could have life limiting conditions, complex and difficult disabilities, live in poverty, or have experienced trauma or abuse. The Principle Trust’s respite breaks give the opportunity for children just to be children and to simply enjoy their time away with their family.
Unlike so many other charities their 100% donations policy ensures every penny raised from events and marketing directly benefits children and their families. As a charity supporting underprivileged children The Principle Trust works closely with local authorities, children’s social services, children’s centres, schools, and other charities to ensure that children and their families or carers, who are most in need, benefit from the holidays we have to offer. For families living with a serious childhood illness, or disabilities time together making memories that last is everything.
They currently have six holiday homes; four of which are situated at Marton Mere Haven Holiday Village, in Blackpool and two holiday lodges on the banks of Lake Windermere at White Cross Bay, Parkdean Resorts Holiday Park. These lodges have been specially adapted to meet the needs of children who are terminally ill, who have Autism, disabilities or other additional needs.
The Principle Trust Childrens Charity raise money at our festival through the provision of bookable activities, craft packs games for children in the Farm Yard Fun Zone and the Go Wild area.
Our team also support the charity through fund raising competitions, attending their annual Charity Ball and providing raffle prizes.
